Program Awards

In the Spring of 2014, UK ASB was recognized by the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), a professional organization for College Student Educators,, as the 2013-2014 Outstanding Program of the Year.

 

Individual Awards

In 2011-2012, Kate McNamara, UK ASB Site Leader, was awarded the Break Away Active Citizen of the Year because of her “commitment to living a life of active citizenship.” During her time with UK ASB, Kate McNamara was a Site Leader on service immersions in Ecuador and Nicaragua. During the Ecuador and Nicaragua service immersions, she led our first trips to each location. Additionally, Kate McNamara served as Leadership Education Coordinator, developing and facilitating training for other UK ASB Site Leaders alongside ASB Program Advisor, Sarah Hermsmeier.

In the Spring of 2014, Jason Schubert was recognized as a Kentucky Ambassador by the Kentucky Commission on Community Volunteerism and Service. This award is designed to recognize “a Kentuckian whose primary volunteer service is outside Kentucky and/or the United States, promoting Kentucky as a Commonwealth of Caring.” Jason Schubert has filled various roles within UK ASB, starting as a Participant on a service immersion in Ecuador in the Spring 0f 2012. Following that, he served as a Site Leader in the Dominican Republic, and later, as Director of the UK ASB program in 2013-2014.
